This is the male spirit form of the mask, as denoted by the centrally-located medial ridge. The male mask has a large crown, with striations, and multiple colors. The sharply-delineated colors have meaning, the red is representative of blood, courage, fortitude, as well as danger and evil.
Small masks such as this are worn on the shoulder during ceremonial dances and also can serve the purpose of passport masks to guarantee safe passage through tribal lands.
